IPL is safe, efficient, and increasingly affordable following the emergence of user-friendly and effective at-home devices in recent years. IPL varies when it comes to the light energy emitted to these wavelengths scatter within the skin, targeting the melanin pigment in hair follicles. The light heats the root of the hair (called the ‘bulb’) and the shaft, damaging the follicle and interrupting its growth cycle. In response, the follicle stops growing and eventually falls out. Philips worked closely with leading dermatologists to develop this breakthrough hair removal system. An extensive consumer research was conducted with more than 2000 volunteers over the course of 10 years.

Philips Lumea applies gentle pulses of light to the hair root. As a consequence, the amount of hair your body grows gradually decreases. Repeating the treatment leaves your skin beautifully hair free and touchably smooth.

How to Use & Frequency

1) Shave the treatment area

2) Turn on the device and gently move the machine along the treatment area

3) Use with confidence to remove hair on face (upper lip, chin and sideburns) and body parts including legs, underarm, bikini area, belly and arms.

4) Moisturize your skin.

Use it every 2 weeks. After 4 treatments, it should show a significant result. Thereafter, perform 1 treatment monthly to maintain the result. Even if hair resurfaces, you will observe gradual thinning of regrown hair and much less in terms of quantity.

It is normal to experience slight redness or slight pain. The condition will improve after minutes.

Warning

As with other IPL based treatments, Philips Lumea works effectively on (naturally) dark blonde, brown and black hairs. As with other light-based treatment, Philips Lumea cannot be used to treat white / grey, light blonde or red hair and is not suitable for very dark skin. This is due to the high contrast required between the pigment in hair color and pigment in the skin tone.
